Ho iniziato a sfidare in circuito a 7 anni con i go-kart e a correre con ragazzi pi\u00f9 grandi di me con ottimi risultati. Per questo sono passato alle monoposto a soli 16 anni, diventando subito campione nella denominata Formula Campus e in Formula Renault. Un gioco che improvvisamente diventa una professione. Correndo nelle maggiori categorie internazionali come la Formula 3 e la Formula 3000 dove ho trovato l'alto livello dei campionati motoristici.<\/p><p>Anni di sacrifici, sconfitte e vittorie faticose, anni in cui l'auto conta pi\u00f9 del pilota, anni di esperienza per la vita.<br \/>Poi nel 2003 sono stato chiamato come collaudatore di F1 per il team Minardi e poi nel 2004 come pilota ufficiale. Un momento molto importante per me fatto di gloria, impegno e devozione ma questo non ha soddisfatto la mia sete di successo. Perci\u00f2 nel 2005 decido di fare un passo indietro per ricominciare ad avere successo. Dopo 2 anni in GP2 sono approdato al mondo GT diventando uno dei piloti pi\u00f9 rappresentativi della categoria. Oltre alle numerose vittorie del 2007 sono stato premiato come miglior pilota FIA GT nel 2008, e ho ricevuto quattro \u201cstatue casco d'oro\u201d da AUTOSPRINT , la principale rivista italiana di Autosport. Ho vinto due volte la 24 ore di le mans nella mia categoria nel 2008 e nel 2012. Il mio obiettivo \u00e8 sempre stato quello di fare del mio meglio in tutto. Mi alleno molto duramente per essere pi\u00f9 performante possibile nelle gare di durata.<\/p><p>La mia vita fuori dalle corse \u00e8 molto semplice. Felice con la mia famiglia e devoto a tutti i tipi di sport. Nel 2016 Gimmi \u00e8 stato riconosciuto come l'undicesimo pilota pi\u00f9 forte al mondo e alla fine dello stesso anno la sua carriera ha preso una svolta decisiva; Gimmi decide di lasciare il lungo percorso fatto con la Ferrari per una nuova sfida: viene firmato un contratto pluriennale con Porsche Motorsport per continuare il suo cammino nel GT.<\/p><p>In the 2022 season he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Porsche. The same year with the Porsche customer team, Proton Competition won the European Le Mans Series in the LMGTE class.<\/p><p>In 2023 Gimmi left GT racing to switch to prototypes, and was chosen by Porsche customer team Proton Competition to drive Porsche&#8217;s new hypercar, the 963. In the same year, an important result came with victory in LMP2 at the 24 Hours of Daytona. For the 2025 season, Gimmi was chosen by the American team JDC motorsport to take part in the American IMSA championship with the Porsche 963 LMdh
